Dragon Dance

Boost Attack and Speed by one stage on a safe turn.

2
Extreme Speed

High-priority Normal attack; Ghost types are immune.

3
Earthquake

Ground coverage for many Steel targets; Flying types avoid it.

4
Dragon Claw

Dragon attack; Fairy types are immune.

How to play

Keep Dragonite at full HP so Multiscale halves incoming damage. Boots help preserve that protection against entry hazards. Use a safe turn for Dragon Dance, then select coverage or Extreme Speed to finish a weakened target.

Watch out for

Ice attacks deal 4× damage, and chip damage disables Multiscale until HP is fully restored. Ghost types ignore Extreme Speed and Fairy types ignore Dragon Claw. Without Normal Tera, Extreme Speed has no same-type bonus.

About this example

This editorial starting point is not a ranked-format recommendation or a legality check. It does not specify EVs or Tera type. Moves, items and abilities here do not change the builder score.

Teammate ideas

Steel teammates can cover Ice, Dragon and Fairy attacks. Support that preserves full HP helps its ability work.

Scizor

Scizor resists Ice, Dragon and Fairy. Dragonite resists Fire for Scizor’s 4× Fire weakness; preserve its HP before relying on that switch.

Gastrodon

Gastrodon resists Rock and is immune to Electric. Dragonite resists Grass 4× for Gastrodon. Gastrodon takes neutral Ice damage, so add a true Ice resistance.

These are typing-based starting pairs, not a complete competitive team. Check the remaining four slots and your game’s rules.

Alternative: Salamence

Salamence offers a different Dragon/Flying attacker with Intimidate, but lacks Multiscale and Extreme Speed.

    How is the score calculated?

Offense (25%): neutral-or-better type coverage and strongest attacking base stats. Defense (30%): team resistances, unprotected and repeated weaknesses, and 4× vulnerabilities. Coverage (25%): fraction of 18 single-type targets hit super effectively by your own types. Synergy (20%): teammates resisting each other’s weaknesses, physical/special/bulk stat signals and base Speed ≥100. Scores are rounded to 0–100; the total uses the displayed subscores.

Rating bands: Excellent ≥80, Good ≥65, Fair ≥45, Poor below 45. An empty team has no rating.

Small teams are provisional and are not given a separate completion bonus. Adding a Pokémon can lower the score if it creates new weaknesses or lowers averages. These initial heuristics have not been calibrated against battle outcomes.
