NATUREJolly
1
Earthquake

Strong Ground damage; Flying types and Levitate avoid it.

2
Dragon Claw

Dragon damage without locking into the move; Fairy types are immune.

3
Swords Dance

Boost Attack by two stages when a safe turn is available.

4
Stealth Rock

Punish opposing switches; choose this or setup based on the turn.

How to play

Choose between setting Stealth Rock and boosting with Swords Dance according to the matchup. Rough Skin punishes contact attacks.

Watch out for

Ice attacks deal 4× damage. Fairy types ignore Dragon Claw, and Flying types ignore Earthquake. This set has no Fire coverage, so Steel/Flying opponents such as Corviknight can stop both attacks.

About this example

This editorial starting point is not a ranked-format recommendation or a legality check. It does not specify EVs or Tera type. Moves, items and abilities here do not change the builder score.

Teammate ideas

A Steel teammate can resist Ice, Dragon and Fairy attacks. A special attacker helps avoid relying entirely on physical damage.

Corviknight

Corviknight resists Fairy and Dragon and is immune to Ground. Ice damage is neutral, so do not treat it as an Ice resistance. Garchomp is immune to its Electric weakness.

Azumarill

Azumarill resists Ice and is immune to Dragon. Garchomp covers its Electric weakness, but neither resists Fairy; add a Steel teammate for that matchup.

These are typing-based starting pairs, not a complete competitive team. Check the remaining four slots and your game’s rules.

Alternative: Flygon

Flygon adds Levitate’s Ground immunity but has lower Attack and bulk.

    How is the score calculated?

Offense (25%): neutral-or-better type coverage and strongest attacking base stats. Defense (30%): team resistances, unprotected and repeated weaknesses, and 4× vulnerabilities. Coverage (25%): fraction of 18 single-type targets hit super effectively by your own types. Synergy (20%): teammates resisting each other’s weaknesses, physical/special/bulk stat signals and base Speed ≥100. Scores are rounded to 0–100; the total uses the displayed subscores.

Rating bands: Excellent ≥80, Good ≥65, Fair ≥45, Poor below 45. An empty team has no rating.

Small teams are provisional and are not given a separate completion bonus. Adding a Pokémon can lower the score if it creates new weaknesses or lowers averages. These initial heuristics have not been calibrated against battle outcomes.
