Use a safe Nasty Plot turn to raise Special Attack. Adaptability strengthens the same-type bonus on Tri Attack; Shadow Ball provides coverage against Ghost targets that ignore Normal attacks.
Key risk. Life Orb costs HP, and setup does not fix its average bulk. Fighting attacks are super effective. Adaptability does not boost every coverage move or remove type immunities.
This editorial starting point is not a ranked-format recommendation or a legality check. It does not specify EVs or Tera type. Moves, items and abilities here do not change the builder score.
BATTLE PLAN
Use a safe Nasty Plot turn to raise Special Attack. Adaptability strengthens the same-type bonus on Tri Attack; Shadow Ball provides coverage against Ghost targets that ignore Normal attacks.
Normal attacks do nothing to a Ghost, so Shadow Ball is the only option on the set that scores — and Ghost targets take it for 2×.
The +2 raise does not fix the bulk. Fighting is the one type that hits Porygon-Z for 2×, and a physical fighter is exactly the switch-in that turns a setup turn into a lost Pokémon.
A teammate uses a switching move to bring Porygon-Z in. A slower pivot may take the opponent’s hit first. Turn order and the opponent’s move still matter.
ITEM & ABILITY
Adaptability strengthens the same-type bonus on Tri Attack, not the coverage built around it. Ghost moves cannot hit Porygon-Z at all, which is what a Normal attacker needs to have a say in these matchups, and Shadow Ball is the move that answers Ghost types back.
Watch the tradeoff. Life Orb costs HP, and setup does not fix its average bulk. Fighting attacks are super effective. Adaptability does not boost every coverage move or remove type immunities.
These battle mechanics do not change the builder’s type-and-base-stat score. The tool does not simulate moves, abilities, held items or damage.

A Ghost teammate covers Fighting attacks. Add physical damage and a defensive switch-in to avoid relying only on special setup.
Immune to Fighting and can pressure targets that ignore Normal attacks.
Resists Fighting and adds physical damage with Intimidate support.

Incoming damage assumes typing only. 0× = immune, ½× / ¼× = resistant, 2× / 4× = weak. Resistance counts include immunities.

Against single-type targets, using only same-type attacks. This is not coverage against every dual-type species.
Offense (25%): neutral-or-better type coverage and strongest attacking base stats. Defense (30%): team resistances, unprotected and repeated weaknesses, and 4× vulnerabilities. Coverage (25%): fraction of 18 single-type targets hit super effectively by your own types. Synergy (20%): teammates resisting each other’s weaknesses, physical/special/bulk stat signals and base Speed ≥100. Scores are rounded to 0–100; the total uses the displayed subscores.
Rating bands: Excellent ≥80, Good ≥65, Fair ≥45, Poor below 45. An empty team has no rating.
Small teams are provisional and are not given a separate completion bonus. Adding a Pokémon can lower the score if it creates new weaknesses or lowers averages. These initial heuristics have not been calibrated against battle outcomes.
