Key risk. Flying attacks deal 4× damage. Bulletproof blocks only specific ball and bomb moves, not all special attacks. Grass targets ignore Leech Seed, and repeated protection can fail.

BATTLE PLAN
Set Spikes against a favorable target. Drain Punch and Leech Seed can restore HP; Spiky Shield protects against many attacks and punishes contact when it blocks the move.
Leech Seed has no effect on a Grass type, and Drain Punch only restores HP when it hits. Against a Grass switch-in the value shifts to Spikes and a teammate, not to this move pair.
Set Spikes, but note Ground and Flying types are immune to it, so the chips only bite the parts of the opposing team that stay grounded. Leech Seed and Spikes stack; neither one replaces the other.
Use Spiky Shield to block the hit and punish contact, but repeated uses can fail, and a blocked non-contact move punishes nothing. It is a read on the move, not a free turn.
A teammate uses a switching move to bring Chesnaught in. A slower pivot may take the opponent’s hit first. Turn order and the opponent’s move still matter.
ITEM & ABILITY
Flying moves deal 4× to Chesnaught because both of its types are weak to them, so a shield is not an answer to that attack. Bulletproof blocks only the specific ball and bomb moves it is written for, not special attacks in general.
Watch the tradeoff. Flying attacks deal 4× damage. Bulletproof blocks only specific ball and bomb moves, not all special attacks. Grass targets ignore Leech Seed, and repeated protection can fail.

COMPARE YOUR OPTIONS

Base stats are not final battle stats. Level, nature, IVs, EVs and battle effects affect the result. Check availability in your game before choosing an alternative.
A Steel teammate can resist Flying, Psychic and Fairy attacks. A Water partner helps against Fire and Ice attackers.
Resists Flying, Psychic, Fairy and Ice and adds special damage.
Resists Fire and Ice and provides direct recovery.

Against single-type targets, using only same-type attacks. This is not coverage against every dual-type species.
Offense (25%): neutral-or-better type coverage and strongest attacking base stats. Defense (30%): team resistances, unprotected and repeated weaknesses, and 4× vulnerabilities. Coverage (25%): fraction of 18 single-type targets hit super effectively by your own types. Synergy (20%): teammates resisting each other’s weaknesses, physical/special/bulk stat signals and base Speed ≥100. Scores are rounded to 0–100; the total uses the displayed subscores.
Rating bands: Excellent ≥80, Good ≥65, Fair ≥45, Poor below 45. An empty team has no rating.
Small teams are provisional and are not given a separate completion bonus. Adding a Pokémon can lower the score if it creates new weaknesses or lowers averages. These initial heuristics have not been calibrated against battle outcomes.
