Key risk. Dark targets are immune to opponent-targeted Prankster status moves such as Encore. Prankster does not give priority to Moonblast or U-turn. Poison attacks deal 4× damage, and Tailwind has a short duration.

BATTLE PLAN
Prankster gives priority to this set’s status moves, including Encore and Tailwind. Encore can lock an eligible target into its last move; Tailwind temporarily boosts your side’s Speed.
Dark immunity to Prankster-boosted status moves means Encore simply fails, leaving only Moonblast, which has no priority and can be taken by a faster attacker. Encore also cannot lock a target that has not moved yet.
Poison deals 4× to a Grass and Fairy type, and it is the one type a Steel teammate is immune to — which is why the partner choice is about the immunity, not the resistances.
U-turn is not a status move, so Prankster does not move it first, and a faster opponent hits on the way out. Tailwind is the reason to spend that turn anyway: the boost belongs to the teammate coming in.
A teammate uses a switching move to bring Whimsicott in. A slower pivot may take the opponent’s hit first. Turn order and the opponent’s move still matter.
ITEM & ABILITY
Prankster gives Encore and Tailwind priority, but never Moonblast or U-turn — and in this generation a Dark type ignores a priority status move outright. Tailwind doubles team Speed for a short window, so the turns it buys are spent immediately or lost.
Watch the tradeoff. Dark targets are immune to opponent-targeted Prankster status moves such as Encore. Prankster does not give priority to Moonblast or U-turn. Poison attacks deal 4× damage, and Tailwind has a short duration.

Against single-type targets, using only same-type attacks. This is not coverage against every dual-type species.
Offense (25%): neutral-or-better type coverage and strongest attacking base stats. Defense (30%): team resistances, unprotected and repeated weaknesses, and 4× vulnerabilities. Coverage (25%): fraction of 18 single-type targets hit super effectively by your own types. Synergy (20%): teammates resisting each other’s weaknesses, physical/special/bulk stat signals and base Speed ≥100. Scores are rounded to 0–100; the total uses the displayed subscores.
Rating bands: Excellent ≥80, Good ≥65, Fair ≥45, Poor below 45. An empty team has no rating.
Small teams are provisional and are not given a separate completion bonus. Adding a Pokémon can lower the score if it creates new weaknesses or lowers averages. These initial heuristics have not been calibrated against battle outcomes.
