Use a safe turn for Swords Dance and recover with Roost when possible. Spirit Shackle can stop an eligible target from switching while Decidueye stays in.
Key risk. Ghost targets and some switching effects escape trapping. Fire, Ice, Flying, Ghost and Dark attacks are super effective. This is standard Grass/Ghost Decidueye, not the Hisuian form.

BATTLE PLAN
Use a safe turn for Swords Dance and recover with Roost when possible. Spirit Shackle can stop an eligible target from switching while Decidueye stays in.
Use Swords Dance for the +2 Attack boost, then remember those stages are gone if Decidueye switches out. The trap and the boost only pay together, in the same stay.
Bug is resisted, not a hole — Decidueye takes half from it. The attacks that actually hurt are Fire, Ice, Flying, Ghost and Dark, each at 2×, so a Bug switch-in is a chance to keep setting up rather than a reason to fold.
A teammate uses a switching move to bring Decidueye in. A slower pivot may take the opponent’s hit first. Turn order and the opponent’s move still matter.
ITEM & ABILITY
Spirit Shackle keeps an eligible target from switching, which is what buys Decidueye the setup turn; Ghost types and some switching effects escape it. Normal and Fighting moves cannot hit Decidueye at all, and Roost is the on-field recovery.
Watch the tradeoff. Ghost targets and some switching effects escape trapping. Fire, Ice, Flying, Ghost and Dark attacks are super effective. This is standard Grass/Ghost Decidueye, not the Hisuian form.
These battle mechanics do not change the builder’s type-and-base-stat score. The tool does not simulate moves, abilities, held items or damage.

A Dark teammate helps against Ghost and Dark attacks. A Water partner resists Fire and Ice; cover Flying attacks with another slot.
Resists Ghost and Dark and can provide delayed Wish recovery.
Resists Ice and Flying and adds special damage.
These are typing-based starting pairs, not a complete competitive team. Check the remaining four slots and your game’s rules.

Incoming damage assumes typing only. 0× = immune, ½× / ¼× = resistant, 2× / 4× = weak. Resistance counts include immunities.

Against single-type targets, using only same-type attacks. This is not coverage against every dual-type species.
Offense (25%): neutral-or-better type coverage and strongest attacking base stats. Defense (30%): team resistances, unprotected and repeated weaknesses, and 4× vulnerabilities. Coverage (25%): fraction of 18 single-type targets hit super effectively by your own types. Synergy (20%): teammates resisting each other’s weaknesses, physical/special/bulk stat signals and base Speed ≥100. Scores are rounded to 0–100; the total uses the displayed subscores.
Rating bands: Excellent ≥80, Good ≥65, Fair ≥45, Poor below 45. An empty team has no rating.
Small teams are provisional and are not given a separate completion bonus. Adding a Pokémon can lower the score if it creates new weaknesses or lowers averages. These initial heuristics have not been calibrated against battle outcomes.
