How to play

Choice Specs boosts Special Attack but locks Inteleon into one move until switching. Use Surf for consistent Water damage or U-turn to bring in a better-positioned teammate.

Watch out for

Key risk. Its low bulk makes direct switches risky. U-turn is physical and does not benefit from Choice Specs; it is included for switching utility. Electric and Grass attacks are super effective.

About this example

This editorial starting point is not a ranked-format recommendation or a legality check. It does not specify EVs or Tera type. Moves, items and abilities here do not change the builder score.

BATTLE PLAN

When to attack, set up or switch

Choice Specs boosts Special Attack but locks Inteleon into one move until switching. Use Surf for consistent Water damage or U-turn to bring in a better-positioned teammate.

You are locked into the wrong attack

Only switching resets the Choice lock. Inteleon’s bulk makes a direct switch risky, so spend the turn on U-turn when a teammate can take the incoming hit.

A Grass type switches in

Grass resists Water and hits Inteleon for 2×, which makes Surf the worst option on the set. Ice Beam is the answer to Grass, and Electric is the other weakness to plan around.

You want coverage instead of power

Dark Pulse is the Psychic and Ghost answer while Surf is resisted by Water and Grass. Locking into coverage early is a real cost, so pick the move the next two turns actually need.

What does a safe pivot mean?

A teammate uses a switching move to bring Inteleon in. A slower pivot may take the opponent’s hit first. Turn order and the opponent’s move still matter.

ITEM & ABILITY

How this build works

Choice Specs raises Special Attack and locks Inteleon into the first move it uses, so the power and the predictability arrive together. U-turn is a physical move and gets none of that special boost — it is on the set to switch, not to hit.

Watch the tradeoff. Its low bulk makes direct switches risky. U-turn is physical and does not benefit from Choice Specs; it is included for switching utility. Electric and Grass attacks are super effective.

These battle mechanics do not change the builder’s type-and-base-stat score. The tool does not simulate moves, abilities, held items or damage.

Teammate ideas

A Ground teammate covers Electric attacks. A Grass-resistant defensive partner gives it safer opportunities to enter.

These are typing-based starting pairs, not a complete competitive team. Check the remaining four slots and your game’s rules.

    How is the score calculated?

Offense (25%): neutral-or-better type coverage and strongest attacking base stats. Defense (30%): team resistances, unprotected and repeated weaknesses, and 4× vulnerabilities. Coverage (25%): fraction of 18 single-type targets hit super effectively by your own types. Synergy (20%): teammates resisting each other’s weaknesses, physical/special/bulk stat signals and base Speed ≥100. Scores are rounded to 0–100; the total uses the displayed subscores.

Rating bands: Excellent ≥80, Good ≥65, Fair ≥45, Poor below 45. An empty team has no rating.

Small teams are provisional and are not given a separate completion bonus. Adding a Pokémon can lower the score if it creates new weaknesses or lowers averages. These initial heuristics have not been calibrated against battle outcomes.
